Being winegrape growers is our second career. We were both self-employed engineers with a love for farming. Sue's father raised dry land grain in Montana in his youth as he worked his way through college in agricultural engineering. During college, Karl tested and repaired bale wagons. As we became interested in growing winegrapes, we started attending viticulture classes and seminars.
We have lived our lives with a concern for the natural environment. Since Sue's participation in the Ecology Club in 5th grade to the design of our strawbale home, from composting kitchen scraps to providing water for wildlife, from generating solar power to reducing runoff potential, we try to minimize our impacts.
